a story of getting through this together, of connectedness, and of hope

About smallthings.today

I've always believed that some of the biggest stories can be told through the smallest things. smallthings.today is meant to be an installation or time capsule of living history during the time of COVID-19.

I've never spent so many consecutive minutes, hours, days, weeks...occupying the same small space with my wife and kids--staying at home in response to the Novel Coronavirus. I've begun to see beauty in small, mundane things that I usually don't even notice. I've been imagining people like me and you, sheltering in place all over the world. And I wonder, what are the small things you have been seeing?

Take a moment and snap a picture of a small thing that brings you joy, happiness, peace, respite--or just distraction from the heaviness of the havoc COVID-19 has wreaked on our neighborhoods and the world.

Upload the photo and record a short description of what you see in your picture to share with the world--in your voice. An image from your space, your voice, and the name of the place you call home...

I think these small things will help tell a bigger story about the pandemic--a story of getting through this together, of connectedness, and of hope.

This is a cache of small things that bring us joy, happiness, peace, respite, or just distraction from the heaviness of the havoc COVID-19 has wreaked on our neighborhoods and the world--through our eyes, in our voices, from our homes. Please enjoy and, if you are inspired, please share your own small things.
